Rano Maps Out Tourism Strengthening on Tidung and Untung Jawa Islands

The Jakarta Vice Governor, Rano Karno, made a working visit to Tidung Island and Untung Jawa Island, South Seribu Islands District, Seribu Islands Administrative Regency.

This visit is part of a shopping trip to finalize tourism development in the Seribu Islands.

"I'm grateful to have been able to visit Tidung Island to see all the facilities and perhaps identify any shortcomings that need to be evaluated. Then, we also went to Untung Jawa to see what we have and what we need to evaluate," he said, Friday (5/29).

Rano added he was grateful to the people of the two islands who had participated in the development of the Seribu Islands. He assured the government that it would be difficult to realize development without public participation.

Rano explained that on Untung Jawa Island, he had the opportunity to visit a Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) facility. From this visit, he learned that the facility's clean water production was no longer sufficient due to population growth and tourist arrivals.

Then, during a visit to Tidung Island, Rano inspected several tourism infrastructures on the island. He emphasized that Tidung Island's future development will focus on becoming a tourist destination.

Rano admitted that he hadn't visited all the islands in the Seribu Islands to conduct mapping. Due to the sheer number of islands, he was forced to consider the most populous as the initial stage of development.

And from this visit, Rano admitted to gaining a better understanding of the field conditions on the two islands, which can then be used to map out the strengths and additional resources needed. In addition to the issue of raw water sources, Rano also mentioned the need for strengthening the electricity supply and internet network.

"So, here we are, listing the issues. After that, we will discuss what should be prioritized in the meeting," he admitted.
